Ethel is a retired missionary, having served in Costa Rica, Central America, San Jose, and Columbia, South America. While on furlough from Columbia, she met and married Mike Ledbetter and moved to Danville, VA where she served as the wife of a pastor for five years. They were both appointed by SBC as missionaries to Guatamala where they served for six years. They were then appointed to Guadalajara, Mexico where they served for twelve years. Ethel retired from the foreign mission field in 1993, having completed 31 years of service.
Since her “retirement” she is serving God on the home front. She has a special love for children, so much of her work is with them. On Wednesday nights and Sundays, she goes around the neighborhood picking up children that otherwise would not be in church.
Ethel teaches the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class on a rotating basis. The class always looks forward to hearing her weave her missionary experiences around the lesson. She is truly one of God’s gems and we are blessed to have her in our midst. By Ruby Wisemiller
